How do incentives matter? Here are two examples: A young mom is given an appointment reminder card, and told if she keeps her appointment, she will receive diapers for her baby. On the day of the appointment (a well baby check up), she runs into the clinic, worried she missed her appointment and the free diapers. Her ride wanted to cancel, but she begged him to drive her as planned so she could keep her appointment and receive the diapers. The clinic made the necessary adjustment, as she did not arrive too late. One cancellation avoided, and one baby receives the well baby check up as scheduled.
A therapist is in her car on the way to visit a mom and her family. The visit is part of a series of visits to help prevent child abuse. The therapist calls her client to confirm that she is on her way, and the client asks if there are free diapers. When the therapist arrives, she finds the client more receptive to the visit, and participates in a bonding session while diapering her baby.
Fundraising in 2014: In October, 2014, our annual “Wear Your Pearls Girls Brunch,” featured Leah Garbe, Program Manager and Training Specialist for SafeCare Colorado. SafeCare is administered by the Kempe Foundation for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse. We received approximately $17,000 in donations. SafeCare uses diapers to incentivize participation in programs that aim to prevent child abuse.
In December, 2014, University Hills Rotary Club awarded us $1500 to provide diapers and wipes to our beneficiaries in the spring grant period. That means that 7,500 diapers will be purchased.
Several business in the Denver metro area contacted BabiesNow! Foundation to facilitate donating diapers as part of their community service day projects. We make it easy, as our beneficiary nonprofits are eager to receive diapers.
Several women in our community had baby showers, and they requested gifts of diapers/wipes for our babies in need. They are able to select which nonprofit beneficiary they would like to receive the diapers.
Please consider making a donation in honor of a special event, or as part of a get-will wish. The person you honor will receive a card acknowledging your generosity and thoughtfulness.
We heavily rely on individual donations and family foundations for monetary support. You can make a difference!
